Searching for Direction:
My name is Gracie Powers, and I’m a student at Texas Tech University majoring in Supply Chain Management. During my first semester, I found myself sitting in my dorm room feeling unsure about my future. I had passion, curiosity, and drive, but I didn’t yet know where to focus it. I was exploring different majors, trying to find something that truly clicked something that matched both my interests and my strengths.
A Conversation That Changed Everything:
It all started with a class assignment and an interview with someone working in a career field I might be interested in. I decided to interview my grandfather, who spent most of his life working in logistics. What I thought would be a simple class project ended up becoming a defining moment for me.
He shared story after story about his work, how critical logistics is to business success, how it’s all about strategy, timing, and teamwork, and how behind every product on a shelf is a whole network of people making it happen. Listening to him speak with passion and purpose helped me see logistics in a completely new way.
Suddenly, I wasn’t just completing an assignment. I was discovering a field that aligned with everything I was looking for: challenge, structure, problem-solving, and real-world impact.
My Experience with PGL:
Fast forward to today, I’m now a Supply Chain Management major with a growing passion for logistics and an intern at Perimeter Global Logistics (PGL). This internship has taken the lessons I learned from my grandfather and brought them to life.
At PGL, I’ve gotten hands-on experience with how goods move around the world. I’ve learned how strategy, technology, and communication all work together to keep supply chains running smoothly. I’ve seen just how much teamwork and problem-solving go into making sure things get where they need to be on time and on budget.
Every day on the job reminds me that I’m on the right path. This isn’t just something I study it’s something I’m excited to be a part of.
A Career with Purpose:
Thanks to PGL and my grandfather’s guidance, I’ve discovered a field that challenges me, motivates me, and aligns with my goals. I now see logistics as not just a career choice, but a pathway to growth, innovation, and global connection.
