DHL Express Peak Season Demand Surcharge: What You Need to Know
As an Enterprise Partner and Authorized Reseller of DHL Express services, PGL is committed to keeping you informed of important industry updates that may impact your shipping needs.
To ensure service reliability during peak demand periods, DHL will implement a Demand Surcharge effective October 1, 2025, through February 16, 2026. This surcharge will apply to selected DHL Express shipping services, similar to other large carriers, consistent with industry standards, during the peak period.
Why the Surcharge?
DHL Express operates a unique transportation model that combines its own dedicated aircraft with commercial airline capacity, enabling deliveries to more than 220 countries and territories worldwide. During the busiest months of the year, shipment volumes often rise sharply, at times exceeding the network’s base capacity.
The Demand Surcharge helps DHL allocate additional resources and secure the capacity required to maintain the high-quality, reliable service that customers expect—even when demand peaks.
How It Will Be Applied
- Export shipments: Surcharge will apply in dollars per LB.
- Import and 3rd country shipments: Surcharge will apply in dollars per KG, depending on origin and destination.
This structure is consistent with last year’s approach.
